The Port of Cadiz has recorded 227 cruise ship calls in the first nine months of the year, 17 more than in the same period of the previous year, which represents an 8 percent increase in the number of ships.
Regarding passengers, between January and September 430,065 cruise passengers arrived, 9 percent less than up to September 2024. This decrease is explained by the reduction in the size of the ships (12 percent less GT), also in line with the Port Authority's commitment to promoting Premium or Deluxe, which are smaller and cater to higher purchasing power.
This category includes, among others, La Belle de Cadix , which, with 30 calls, is the cruise ship that has called at the Bay of Cadiz the most times up to September. It is followed by the MSC Musica, with 16 calls, and the ARVIA, with 10.
In 2025, 355 stops are planned, of which 204 are Premium or Deluxe category .
In terms of passenger numbers, the AIDA Cosma has broken this year's record so far with 6,820 cruise passengers on board. It is followed by the ARVIA, with 6,381, and the MSC Virtuosa, with 6,063 passengers.
The month with the most stopovers so far has been April, with a total of 46 stopovers, followed by September with 38 stopovers and by May, as the third best month with 29 stopovers.
As is well known, the economic impact of cruise ships is particularly significant on the surrounding area. According to the latest study conducted by the Andalusian Regional Government on cruise tourism in the region, the average expenditure per cruise passenger per day in a port of call is €40.60, and can reach up to €200 in the case of a home port.
