The Kursaal Theatre hosted the grand cruise industry celebration last night with the 2025 Cruise Excellence Awards, which brought together top executives from cruise companies along with authorities, tour operators, shipping agents, ports, travel agents, professionals, businesspeople and suppliers from the sector in Melilla and the peninsula.
During an entertaining gala directed and presented by the showman and comedian Mr. Corrales, the guests who came from various parts of the peninsula and abroad, were able to enjoy an innovative show by the Girasomnis Creative Studio, who deployed on the stage advanced visual effects that came to life to the rhythm of the drums and movements of an LED stick.
One after another, the award winners went up on stage to collect their prize, leaving the list of awards as follows:
- Best Cruise Port – Port of Barcelona
- Best Family Cruise Line – MSC Cruises
- Best Premium Cruise Line – Virgin Voyages
- Best Luxury Cruise Line – Silversea Cruises
- Best Entertainment – Royal Caribbean International
- Best Value for Money – MSC Cruises
- Best Ship in the Mediterranean – Sun Princess (Princess Cruises)
- Best Ship in Northern Europe – Celebrity Apex (Celebrity Cruises)
- Best Brand Image among consumers – MSC Cruises
- Best River Line Company – Croisieurope
- Best Cruise Line for Your First Cruise – Costa Cruises
- Best Cuisine – Oceania Cruises
- Best Itinerary – Norwegian Cruise Line
- Best Exotic Itinerary – Regent Seven Seas
- Best brand recognition among travel agencies – Royal Caribbean International
- Best Expedition Cruise Line – Silversea Cruises
- Best Round the World Trip – Oceania Cruises
During the event, the following special awards:
- Explore Journeys – for its innovation in ship design.
- Ponant – for its sustainability and zero-emissions ship project.
- Virgin Voyages – LGBTQ+ inclusion and commitment
- Crystal Cruises – for its return to the market with very high standards of luxury.
Melilla Tourism also took the opportunity to present awards to Africa Travel, the Central Zone Association and the Port Authority of Melilla.
The Cruise Excellence Awards, whose first edition was held in 2008 in Barcelona, are the result of a macro survey carried out on cruise passengers and national travel agents and are a brand of CruisesNews Media Group, organizer of the International Cruise Summit in Madrid and publisher of CruisesNews magazine.
This eighteenth edition of the Excellence Cruise Awards has been promoted and sponsored by the City of Melilla, Melilla Tourism, the Port Authority of Melilla and in collaboration with other public and private bodies such as State Ports and Lantimar Group.
