Fincantieri and Viking have announced the signing of contracts for the construction of two new cruise ships, based on the successful features of previous ships that Fincantieri has already built in its Italian shipyards.
These two ships will be delivered in 2030. Fincantieri and Viking have also reached an agreement for four additional ships as an option, with deliveries planned for 2031 and 2032.
The new vessels will be built in accordance with the latest environmental and navigation standards and will be equipped with state-of-the-art safety systems. They will incorporate all the innovations resulting from the ongoing collaboration between Fincantieri and Viking for the development of eco-friendly fuels and sustainable, zero-emission power generation systems.
The new ships will be in the small cruise ship segment, will have a gross tonnage of about 54,300 tons and will accommodate 998 passengers on board in 499 cabins.
The agreement reflects the strong and long-standing relationship between Fincantieri and Viking - which dates back to 2012 - and whose collaboration currently encompasses a total of 22 ships, including the two expedition units purpose-built by the Norwegian subsidiary Vard.
