Emerald Cruises introduces a new ship, the Emerald Astra, which joins its fleet of Star-Ships, along with extensive upgrades across Emerald Cruises' river fleet in Europe.
The goal is to enhance the passenger experience by combining Emerald Cruises' distinctive features with design elements inspired by luxury yachts.
Emerald Astra: An Evolution in River Cruising.
Emerald Astra will mark the next evolution of Emerald Cruises' river fleet. Designed to reflect the elegance of the line's luxury superyachts, the ship features a modern gray-tinted glass exterior and will welcome 180 guests. Of Greek and Latin origin, "Astra" translates as "Star," and Emerald Astra promises to be a true shining star among our elegant Star-Ships, the seventh to sail the Rhine, Main, and Danube.
The updated design focuses on both style and functionality, offering guests' favorite amenities such as a combined pool and cinema, multiple dining options, and a dedicated sundeck for relaxation and panoramic views. All interiors have also been enhanced with a sleek, contemporary design, ensuring a sophisticated and spacious environment for travelers on Europe's river cruises.
The Emerald Astra will join the fleet in 2026 and will sail along the iconic Rhine, Moselle and Danube rivers.
Improvements across the entire fleet
Emerald Cruises has also announced comprehensive upgrades across its European river fleet, which includes ships sailing the Rhine-Main-Danube, the Rhône in France, and the Douro in Portugal. Guests can expect to enjoy these upgrades during the 2025 season.
Key improvements include:
– Redesigned Horizon Bar & Lounge: on the Star-Ships on the Rhine-Main-Danube route. Similarly, the Emerald Radiance on the Douro and the Emerald Liberte on the Rhône will see updates to align with the new aesthetic across the fleet.
– Upgraded pool/cinema and dining areas: these will be renovated with new furnishings and updated designs to enhance guest comfort and dining experiences.
– Missoni textiles and yacht-inspired artwork.
– In-suite technology: Each stateroom will feature iPads to enhance guest interaction with onboard services and voyage itineraries, providing an easily accessible digital resource for guests.
All the improvements will be completed by the 2025 season, ensuring a new level of comfort and luxury on Europe's rivers.
