Yesterday, June 11, 2024, the Port of Tarragona celebrated the inauguration of its new cruise terminal at the Moll de Balears, coinciding with the start of the 64th MedCruise.
This event, which brought together prominent figures from the tourism and business sectors, marks a milestone in the development of Tarragona's port infrastructure.
The terminal, built by Global Ports Holding with an industrialized off-site modular approach designed by Hombre de Piedra Arquitectos, was manufactured in Almería and then assembled in Tarragona.
During the inauguration ceremony, authorities such as Saül Garreta, president of the Port of Tarragona, and Mehmet Kutman, CEO of Global Ports Holding, highlighted the new building's commitment to sustainability and eco-efficiency. The terminal, which features advanced technology and spacious, functional areas, is designed to enhance the passenger experience and reduce CO2 emissions.
Furthermore, the importance of this development for local tourism and the region's economy was emphasized. The new terminal will allow for more efficient and convenient operations, aligned with Tarragona's sustainability efforts and responsible tourism strategy.
The MedCruise Assembly, which runs until June 14, brings together important players in the cruise industry, consolidating Tarragona as a relevant destination in the Mediterranean.
