The digital start-up of the MEYER ALFRED Maritime Group has caused a sensation at Seatrade Cruise Global, by presenting the first AI-based energy management system for cruise ships.

The new platform, called the MEYER Energy Management System, is the result of a collaboration between ALFRED's IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) and data experts and MEYER's Energy Efficiency Team. Its main objective is to improve operational efficiency on cruise ships.
The MEYER Energy Management System provides ship operators and crews with a detailed view of vessel performance. This platform offers actionable information to optimize energy efficiency and reduce fuel consumption, thereby contributing to lower vessel emissions.
Dr. Paul Meyer, Managing Director of ALFRED Maritime and Chief Information Officer of the MEYER Group, emphasizes that the combination of knowledge in maritime operations, ship design and advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and simulation models, makes it possible to make ships more efficient and environmentally friendly.
The platform integrates simulation models and real-time data from multiple onboard systems into a modern IoT platform, enabling the crew to make quick and effective decisions to optimize vessel performance. Furthermore, it provides complete data transparency for the vessel operator.
Thanks to an intuitive control panel, the crew can easily understand the ship's performance with minimal training effort, resulting in a more comfortable and efficient crew.
ALFRED Maritime, the MEYER Group's digital company founded in 2019, aims to digitize modern ships using technologies such as the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, thereby providing data and intelligence for greener, next-generation ships.
Backed by the dedicated energy efficiency team at MEYER, the team behind the MEYER energy management system leverages over 300 years of accumulated shipbuilding experience from Turku and Papenburg.
