MSC Cruises is increasing its capacity in Spain by 2024 to meet the growing demands and preferences of Spanish customers.
The company is boosting its presence in the Spanish market, responding to the growing demand experienced in recent years.
MSC Cruises currently has seven embarkation ports in Spain, having increased its presence in the country since 2019, when it had three embarkation ports (Valencia, Barcelona, and Palma de Mallorca). These have since been expanded to include Tarragona, Alicante, Málaga, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This is one of the reasons the company has broken a record number of passengers this year.
Looking ahead to summer 2024
One of the milestones MSC Cruises will achieve in 2024 is an increase in capacity for next summer, with seven ships departing from Spanish ports. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the industry, as it will be the first time a cruise line operates six ships with weekly departures from Spanish ports during the summer season.
Four of these weekly cruises will be based in Barcelona, and two will depart from Valencia. In addition, every ten days, the MSC Orchestra will sail from Málaga and Alicante.
MSC Cruises will also offer a direct flight service to connect major Spanish cities with 9 ships that will travel through the Eastern Mediterranean, the Greek Islands and Northern Europe.
For passengers of MSC Armonia, MSC Splendida and MSC Lirica, flights will depart from Madrid and Barcelona to board in Venice; and for those of MSC Sinfonia who will also board in Venice, they will be able to take direct flights from Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia.
On the other hand, passengers embarking in Rome (Civitavecchia) aboard the MSC Divina can fly directly from Madrid, Barcelona, and Malaga. Meanwhile, those choosing to cruise on the MSC Opera from Bari can enjoy direct flights from Madrid and Barcelona.
The included flight service allows cruisers to choose itineraries that begin far from their location. These flights include transfers from the airport to the port, and vice versa, accompanied by MSC Cruises staff.
MSC Cruises also offers a free bus service that will connect up to 15 provinces in Spain with the ports of Barcelona, Tarragona and Valencia during the upcoming summer season of 2024.
The free bus service will be available for passengers of MSC World Europe, MSC Seaview, MSC Grandiosa departing from the Port of Barcelona; MSC Seaside and MSC Fantasia, departing from the Port of Valencia; and MSC Fantasia, also departing from the Port of Tarragona.
New itineraries for MSC Musica and MSC Opera in the Eastern Mediterranean and Greek Islands
MSC Cruises has updated its itineraries for summer 2024, with an itinerary adapted to the tastes of the Spanish, through the Greek Islands, on board MSC Opera and a new program for MSC Musica in the Western Mediterranean.
- MSC Opera: MSC Cruises has enhanced the planned MSC Opera. The new program will explore some of the most beautiful corners of the Greek Islands over 7 nights. Departing from Bari and Piraeus, passengers aboard MSC Opera will visit Santorini (Greece); Piraeus (Athens, Greece); Katakolon (Olympia, Greece); and Corfu (Greece). This itinerary replaces the canceled sailings that included Haifa, Israel, due to the current geopolitical situation.
- MSC Musica : The new MSC Musica itinerary , scheduled for next summer, will feature weekly departures from two Spanish ports: Barcelona and Ibiza. The ship will sail for seven nights to some of the most iconic destinations in the Western Mediterranean, including Genoa (Italy), Cannes (France), Cagliari (Italy), and Rome (departing from Civitavecchia).
