Azamara expands its on-land programming with new day trips by National Geographic.
Starting this month, Azamara will offer National Geographic day trips with Intercruises Shoreside & Port Services, the global shore cruise operator that collaborates with National Geographic to create these experiences.
Azamara aims to help travelers learn about the history of each destination and discover more about conservation, culture, and history through National Geographic's content and research.
“Our Azamara traveler is constantly seeking new ways to explore different cultures and destinations through educational and immersive travel,” said Paul Chapple, Head of Land Product Development and Operations at Azamara. “Intercruises’ trusted service and reliability, combined with National Geographic’s legacy and global expertise, helps us provide our guests with exclusive access to hands-on cultural experiences, enriched adventures, and meaningful explorations,” he added.

“National Geographic Day Tours are truly unique and original experiences, arguably bringing travelers closer to the destination than ever before, and we are now delighted to begin operating them with Azamara,” he explained.
Each tour is led by National Geographic-trained guides and adheres to the Global Sustainable Tourism Council's guidelines. Extended Destination Days , which provide 10 or more hours in port, allow ample time for guests to enjoy a National Geographic Day Tour.
Among the National Geographic day trips offered by Azamara are:
- Finding a New Home in Amsterdam: From Struggle to Resilience: In Amsterdam, the Netherlands, travelers will stroll through the city's streets and canals while listening to firsthand accounts from the city's immigrants and refugees. The guided tour will offer a vivid glimpse into their experiences and their communities in Amsterdam, culminating in a meal prepared by chefs from around the world, transcending borders through the universal language of food.
- Sancocho, from the legacy of the monks to a national delicacy: Travelers will discover the legacy of the gastronomy of the Dominican Republic by participating in a practical cooking class led by a local chef.
- Cozumel's Coral Reef Ecosystem: A marine biologist and founding partner of the Cozumel Coral Restoration Program will lead guests on an educational adventure through the coral reefs and mangroves of Cozumel, Mexico. Travelers will snorkel to admire the coral structures.
