Hurtigruten Norway has announced the return of its three pre-pandemic itineraries that highlight Nordic culture.
Two of the itineraries explore northern Finland and the Norwegian coast, while the third, focused on astronomy, allows guests to learn the science behind the stars. All three itineraries include various excursions.
The 15-day itinerary “Follow the Northern Lights”
Departing from Helsinki, Finland, the cruise follows the Norwegian coast to Bergen, with a land visit to Oslo. Guests can book one of several departures between November and March to explore Finnish Lapland, learn about the history of the Sami people, cross the Arctic Circle, and discover traditional fishing and hunting heritage, with the opportunity to witness the majestic Northern Lights.
The 15-day trip “Follow the Midnight Sun”
Take a similar route in June and July. It begins with a ferry crossing from Stockholm to Helsinki, then on to northern Finland before sailing up the Norwegian coast to Bergen. At this time of year, the Arctic Midnight Sun doesn't set below the horizon all day, offering nearly 24 hours of daylight.
The 12-day trip “Follow the Stars”
The Astronomy Voyage departs from Bergen and returns along the Norwegian coast in November, January, and February. On this voyage, guests will enjoy lectures by renowned astronomers such as Ian Ridpath, John Mason, Sadie Jones, and Tom Kerss. Travelers will learn about the Northern Lights, stars, planets, meteors, and myths related to the constellations.
The trip includes visits to 34 ports, passing through more than 100 fjords and over 1,000 mountains. Guests can also choose from a variety of optional excursions to discover natural treasures or enjoy birdwatching. The itinerary also includes an exclusive visit to the Northern Lights Planetarium in Tromsø.
