This event marks the arrival of the second of the six ships in the new Prima Class that will be delivered by 2028.

Following the launch of the award-winning Norwegian Prima in 2022, the Norwegian Viva will continue to exceed expectations in the cruise industry. The ship's slogan, "Live It," reflects the enhanced guest experience and onboard features of this innovative category, including a superior offering, more spacious layouts, exciting onboard activities like the three-story Viva Speedway, and new dining concepts, most notably the Indulge Food Hall, an open-air food market with 11 unique restaurants.

“Ships as spectacular as those in the Prima Class are only possible in collaboration with a great shipyard as incredible as Fincantieri,” said David J. Herrera, President of Norwegian Cruise Line. “This delivery marks a significant milestone for the Norwegian Viva, and we are beyond excited to bring this spectacular ship to life when we welcome guests aboard next week.”

While the ship boasts many of the highlights of the Prima Class, the Norwegian Viva marks the first-ever at-sea premiere of the Tony Award®-nominated production, “Beetlejuice,” where guests can have a blast with the undead during a musical adaptation of Tim Burton’s 1988 film. In addition, the nightly entertainment program includes “Press Your Luck Live,” an immersive game show experience straight from the big screen, giving audiences the chance to participate in the classic television game show and win numerous prizes.

Measuring 294 meters in length, 143,535 gross tons, and accommodating 3,100 guests, the Norwegian Viva also features The Concourse, an open-air sculpture garden on Ocean Boulevard, the wraparound waterfront promenade that allows guests to feel more connected to the sea than ever before. Redesigned specifically for the Norwegian Viva, the area will include works by six artists who have previously contributed to Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. ships: Kevin Box, Jonathan Prince, Arik Levy, Richard Hudson, Sophie Elizabeth Thompson, and Pablo Atchugarry. The Metropolitan Bar, the ship's signature sustainable cocktail bar, will also feature a new artwork, "Every Wing Has a Silver Lining," a 16-meter-long interactive piece designed exclusively for the Norwegian Viva by British contemporary and digital artist Dominic Harris.

“Norwegian Viva is a testament to our wonderful partnership with Norwegian Cruise Line,” said Pierroberto Folgiero, Chief Executive Officer of Fincantieri. “We are proud to be involved in the development of the innovative Prima Class and look forward to continuing our close partnership in the coming years with the next four highly anticipated Prima Class ships.”

Following its maiden voyage on August 10, 2023, the Norwegian Viva will sail several itineraries in the Mediterranean and the Greek Islands before its official christening in Miami on November 28, 2023. Latin GRAMMY® Award-winning artist Luis Fonsi, godfather of the Norwegian Viva, will attend the ceremony to officially christen the ship and will be joined by the Queen of Latin Pop, Paulina Rubio; Miami native and “Saturday Night Live” cast member Marcello Hernández; and renowned singer Pedro Capó. The cruise ship will then dock in San Juan, Puerto Rico, for a Caribbean season of sailing from December 2023 through March 2024, with stops in Tortola (British Virgin Islands), San Juan (Antigua), Bridgetown (Barbados), Castries (Saint Lucia), Philipsburg (Saint Maarten), and Saint Thomas (U.S. Virgin Islands).
