Silversea Cruises and the Meyer Werft shipyard celebrated the launch of the new Silver Nova℠in Papenburg, Germany, on April 28, 2023. The Silver Nova, which will become the twelfth ship in the fleet of the leading ultra-luxury cruise line when it sets sail in the summer of 2023, will be the most environmentally friendly ultra-luxury cruise ship ever built.
The Silver Nova was positioned alongside the dock in the neighboring basin, where outfitting will continue. To commemorate this important milestone and in keeping with shipbuilding traditions, Captain Cosimo Pontillo welded a special coin to a wall of the pool deck, which will remain visible to future guests as a symbol of good luck. Expert craftsmen from Meyer Werft cleaned the ship's hull, secured its funnel, and installed its LNG and radar masts. Exclusive to the Meyer Werft shipyard, the Silver Nova's next voyage—scheduled for the end of May—will involve a 32-km (approximately 20-mile) journey up the narrow Ems River to the sea.

Currently under construction in Papenburg as the first of two Nova-class ships, the 728-guest Silver Nova will feature the largest selection of bars, restaurants, and lounges on ultra-luxury cruise ships; some of the most spacious suites at sea; and a host of innovative features - including an asymmetrical design and horizontal layout.
