Royal Caribbean International's Icon of the Seas has reached a major construction milestone at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland, as the first Icon Class ship floated out of the dry dock where it has been under construction for more than eight months.
As part of this event, the ship's dry dock was filled with water overnight and once the dock was full, the Icon was moved to an equipment pier, which will be its home for the next year until construction is completed.
The new ship offers a full range of world-class attractions and firsts across eight zones, making it the perfect getaway for adults, parents, children, and grandparents alike. From the thrills of the new Thrill Island to unparalleled relaxation in areas like the new Chill Island and the luxurious four-level Suite Neighborhood, vacationers reuniting with family or escaping with friends will find plenty of ways to have fun their way.
Icon will sail year-round on 7-night cruises through the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Miami. Each cruise will visit Royal Caribbean's private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay, Bahamas, and a mix of destinations including Cozumel, Mexico; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; and Basseterre, St. Kitts.
