The Celebrity Ascent cruise ship hits the water for the first time

The new Celebrity Ascent, the fourth ship in Celebrity Cruises’ Edge class, currently under construction at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, marked a new milestone in its construction process when it was launched for the first time.

With the construction of the outer hull now complete, work on the ship’s interior will begin in the coming months. This sister ship to the Celebrity Beyond has been under construction since the steel-cutting ceremony, which took place on November 17, 2021. Another ship in the Edge class will follow the Celebrity Ascent, thereby completing the series.

Celebrity Cruises CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo said that this major construction milestone is the perfect way to kick off 2023. Lutoff-Perlo also expressed her gratitude for the extraordinary collaboration between the shipyard staff in France and the Celebrity team; in particular, she thanked everyone involved in the construction of the Celebrity Ascent for both their expertise and their passion.

The Celebrity Ascent is scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2023, and its maiden voyage is scheduled for December 3, 2023, in the Caribbean.

Guests aboard the Celebrity Ascent will enjoy exclusive experiences available on a ship from Celebrity Cruises' Edge series, including:

– The two-story Edge Villa staterooms with direct access to the exclusive The Retreat Sun Deck, reserved for suites, as well as the Infinite Veranda staterooms that transform into open-air verandas, among the largest at sea;
– Stunning views from the iconic Magic Carpet, the world’s first cantilevered cruise experience, and from bow to stern thanks to the ship’s unique, outward-facing design;
– The Sunset Bar, designed by Nate Berkus; a first-class Resort Deck featuring exclusive cabanas, infinity plunge pools, and two-story Martini-shaped hot tubs;
– More than 30 distinct dining and drinking venues, including the high-tech, immersive dining experience Le Petit Chef; Eden restaurant, with its three-story windows, inventive mixology-focused cocktails, and unforgettable globally inspired dishes; and the incomparable Le Voyage by Daniel Boulud, featuring the most exquisite cuisine on the high seas.
