Renaissance, the Compagnie Française de Croisières ship, has been undergoing refurbishment at the Damen shipyard in Brest since October 2022, before beginning its new life with the CFC company. Due to the international situation, the supply chain has been affected by significant delays in the delivery of the materials needed for the ship's refurbishment.
As a result, operations will begin on May 14, 2023, with all cruises scheduled between February 10 and this new inaugural date being cancelled. Also departing from Le Havre, the new inaugural itinerary, “Celtic Rhythms and Legends,” from May 14 to 25, will take its 1,100 passengers to Ireland and the British Isles of Scilly and Guernsey.
This mandatory cancellation allows those who have booked a cruise to choose between a postponement or a cancellation. Compagnie Française de Croisières protects travel agency commissions in all cases.
Travel agencies and customers have been informed of the situation and are currently receiving cancellation and compensation notifications.
“Despite the best efforts of our subcontractors to overcome the supply chain disruptions and avoid the delays we are experiencing, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the first 10 cruises aboard the Renaissance to ensure that the experience and service offered to our guests live up to the expectations of a premium French company,” said the company’s founders, Clément Mousset and Cedric Rivoire-Perrochat. “We understand that this news will be a disappointment to our guests on the first cruises, but we are confident that they will understand the reasons,” they added.
The Renaissance will be christened in an official ceremony on Tuesday, May 9, at the Cité Océane, ahead of a series of events for partner travel agents.
