The company has announced the new date for the steel-cutting ceremony of the Silver Ray at the Meyer Werf shipyards.
The second ship in the Nova class will join the Silversea fleet in the summer of 2024. At the ceremony, the company announced that the Silver Nova's launch has been delayed by one month; its original date was July 15, 2023, and it will now depart on its maiden voyage on August 14, 2023, sailing a round trip from Fusina (Venice)
Silversea Cruises officially began construction of Silver Ray, the second ship in the Nova class, with a traditional steel-cutting ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Silver Ray will join its sister ship, Silver Nova, as one of the most environmentally friendly ships ever built in the summer of 2024.

Given the global supply issues that have impacted the construction of Silver Nova, it has been decided to delay its launch date by approximately one month in order to maintain the signature level that our discerning guests have come to expect when traveling with Silversea.”.
Silversea's Nova-class ships will become the world's first low-emission cruise ships with advanced hybrid technology that uses fuel cells, batteries and dual-fuel engines powered by liquefied natural gas, emitting zero local emissions while in port.
Silversea has informed affected customers and travel agents of the new launch date for the Silver Nova.
