The Port of Barcelona has welcomed the MSC Seascape on its pre-inaugural voyage. This ship, which will become the company's new flagship, will be inaugurated in New York on December 7th as part of MSC Cruises' commitment to the US market.
The arrival of MSC Seascape in Barcelona was accompanied by the traditional exchange of plaques, an event that took place on board the ship, which has a capacity for more than 5,500 passengers, and was attended by representatives of MSC Cruises as well as municipal and port authorities.
Among them were Damiá Calvet, president of the Port Authority of Barcelona and Sofía Basterra, head of communications for MSC Cruises in Spain.
This port call reinforces MSC Cruises' commitment to both the Port of Barcelona and the city itself, one of the company's key destinations in Spain, where they are working on distinctive initiatives such as establishing a fleet of electric buses for journeys to the city center and creating a private cruise terminal that will become operational in 2024. In this regard, Sofía Basterra stated that “Barcelona is one of the most important ports in the western Mediterranean, and at MSC Cruises we are working to establish initiatives and projects that contribute to the sustainable development of the cruise industry in the city. MSC Seascape is an example of innovation and technology applied to sustainability and entertainment, and its pre-inaugural port call in Barcelona is a moment to celebrate our collaboration with the Port Authority and our commitment to continuing to improve the future of cruising.”
MSC Seascape will be the second ship in the Seaside EVO class and the fourth in the company's Seaside class. The ship is particularly well-suited to the warm, sunny climate of the region. This innovative vessel, measuring 323 meters in length, incorporates significant technological advancements in entertainment and environmental features, and is designed to offer a unique onboard experience, meeting the needs and demands of passengers today and in the years to come.
