Luxury cruise line Silversea Cruises has just unveiled and opened pre-sales for its round-the-world trip, Controtempo World Cruise 2025, which will depart from Tokyo on January 13, 2025.
The cruise line's most modern ship, Silver Dawn, will sail west for 136 days, arriving in New York on May 29, 2025, after visiting Southeast Asia, India, the Red Sea, the Holy Land, the Greek Islands, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Baltic Sea, the Norwegian Fjords, Iceland, Greenland, and Newfoundland.
The unique aspect of this trip, and hence its name, “Contratempo”, is that it will visit 59 ports in 30 countries outside of their usual tourist season, allowing visitors to enjoy them in a more authentic way.
The route includes both the most famous ports and new ones, with 19 of them receiving a Silversea cruise for the first time.
Beyond the extensive list of destinations on this Round the World trip, what is worth highlighting are the unique experiences that the company will offer its guests, such as dinner at an exclusive venue enjoying a Bollywood show in Mumbai (India), or a gala evening at the Palace of Versailles, and even an exclusive photographic exhibition for passengers followed by a Scandinavian dinner in Stockholm.
And also the numerous nights in port, 33 in total, which allow you to dine outside the ship and get a glimpse of the destination's nightlife, or early morning!

Although the complete route is a dream come true, it has been divided into 10 sections that can be booked by those who do not have that much time.

Silver Dawn, Silversea's most modern ship, for only 596 privileged guests
The Silver Dawn was launched just a few weeks ago and will be responsible for making this round-the-world trip in 2025. It is a ship of moderate size, only 40,700 gross registered tons, with capacity for 596 passengers served by 411 crew members.
Despite its size, it boasts eight dining options, a dreamy spa, and opulent lounges that exude elegance from every corner. The pool is a haven of peace and sophistication, complete with plush sun loungers and a crew always attentive to your every need.
What truly sets Silversea apart is its exceptional service. The staff are always friendly, rarely saying no, and they remember your preferences to anticipate your needs. And let's not forget, there are two crew members for every three passengers—a ratio rarely found in hotels, cruise ships, or restaurants.
The suites on the Silver Dawn are all exterior-facing with balconies, ranging from the simplest at 31 m2 with a full bathroom (shower and bathtub) to the most opulent at 146 m2, including a 53 m2 terrace. All suites feature butler service, a minibar stocked with your favorite drinks, and Wi-Fi.
Outstanding gastronomy: SALT.
On this round-the-world voyage, the Silver Dawn will offer culinary delights with the SALT “Sea and Land Taste” program, which features gastronomic immersion experiences at each destination, right on board. This journey will explore the “fifth taste,” umami, in Japan, and learn how the art of fermentation has influenced traditional and modern Nordic cuisine throughout Scandinavia throughout history.
We will be able to enjoy SALT in several places, including SALT Kitchen, the dedicated onboard dining room that brings the flavors of the world to our table, SALT Bar, where we will taste regionally inspired cocktails made with quality locally sourced drinks and ingredients, and prepared by master mixologists, and SALT Lab, an interactive place where we can recreate all the fantastic dishes we find on land.
Relaxation and well-being: Otium
The Otium wellness program will be available for the first time on a world cruise aboard Controtempo. Inspired by the baths of ancient Rome, which were places to relax, socialize, bathe, eat, drink, and enjoy life, it offers everything from spa treatments to in-suite pampering experiences.
