The Emerald Luna river cruise ship was christened on July 21st in Amsterdam, with the presence of David Winterton, Emerald Cruises' global director of brand and marketing; Rob Voss, Scenic Group's chief operating officer; Maggie Carbonell, vice president of US marketing; Ann Chamberlin, vice president of US sales; as well as embarking passengers and local dignitaries. The ship's godmother was Vanessa McGovern of Gifted Travel Network.
The Emerald Luna, with a capacity for 180 passengers, will sail the Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers. It features the line's signature all-weather balcony design in most cabins, with both covered and open-air areas, as well as an indoor pool with a retractable roof and a cinema at the stern.
It joins the sister ships Emerald Sun, Sky, Star, Dawn and Destiny that sail the same rivers of Europe.

The godmother of the Emerald Luna, award-winning educator and U.S. travel advocate Vanessa McGovern of Gifted Travel Network, stated: “It is a true honor and privilege to be named godmother of this magnificent riverboat. I have long admired Emerald Cruises’ commitment to working with travel agencies, and it is a great pleasure to welcome Emerald Luna to the fleet and wish her fair winds.”

Emerald Cruises' river fleet also includes the Emerald Liberté, which sails the Rhône and Saône rivers in France, the Emerald Radiance, which sails the Douro River in Portugal, and the Emerald Harmony, which sails the Mekong River in Vietnam and Cambodia.
