MSC Cruises celebrated the inaugural call of the MSC Orchestra in the city of Alicante, which is serving as a new embarkation port for this cruise. The event included a ceremony on board, attended by Luis Barcala, Mayor of Alicante; Julián López Milla, President of the Alicante Port Authority; María del Carmen Sánchez, Deputy Mayor and Head of the Alicante City & Beach Tourism Board; and Fernando Pacheco, Managing Director of MSC Cruises in Spain.
This event marks the start of MSC Orchestra's summer itinerary, for which the Port of Alicante will serve as the embarkation port on 12 occasions. This new Western Mediterranean itinerary will last 11 days and 10 nights, with stops in Málaga, Cádiz, and Mahón, as well as other Mediterranean destinations such as Olbia, Genoa, Marseille, and Lisbon.
This MSC Orchestra itinerary, which began today in the port of Alicante, will offer the opportunity to embark on a cruise where Spain and the Iberian Peninsula will be the main focus, as it will include visits to Olbia, Genoa, Marseille, Cadiz, Lisbon, Menorca, and also Malaga and full days of sailing.

At the event, Julián López, president of the Alicante Port Authority, declared: “The arrival of the MSC Orchestra cruise ship in Alicante, as a port of embarkation, represents the consolidation of the great relationship that exists between the port and MSC Cruises.”
For her part, the deputy mayor and head of the Alicante City&Beach Tourism Board, María del Carmen Sánchez, added: “MSC Cruises' commitment to Alicante as a port of embarkation means putting us back on the map of cruise tourism at a national level, as well as multiplying the economic impact on the city.”
This MSC Orchestra itinerary through the Western Mediterranean is part of the company's strategic growth plan in Spanish ports, with which MSC Cruises has more than 400 scheduled calls with 6 embarkation ports in Spain in 2022.
