The Havila Capella departed Bergen tonight for the first time since April and is once again sailing along the Norwegian coast. At the scheduled time of 8:30 p.m., the Havila Capella left the port at the Jektevik terminal in Bergen and headed north along the historic coastal route towards Kirkenes.
“We have gone through a period with a ship out of service for reasons beyond our control. It is very gratifying to see the Havila Capella sailing again with passengers on board,” says Havila Kystruten Managing Director Bent Martini. “Our crew is really looking forward to showcasing our beautiful, modern ship and offering fantastic experiences along our coastline.”.
The Havila Capella will arrive in Ålesund and then set sail for the Geirangerfjord, where it will navigate exclusively on battery power. “We’ve already sailed in Geiranger a few times using only batteries with the Havila Castor, and since the Havila Capella is identical to its sister ship, we have a lot of experience operating emission-free for as long as possible,” says Martini.
“We encourage everyone on board to go out on deck and enjoy the beautiful fjord, a World Heritage Site, and its surroundings, as we sail quietly and peacefully.
“Due to the uncertainty that has arisen in recent months, many people have changed their trip to Havila Castor or postponed their trip to Havila Capella. We have places available on the first round trips, but the number of bookings is increasing,” explains Martini.
