The Viking Saturn, with a capacity for 930 passengers, has been launched, marking a significant milestone in its construction. Scheduled to debut in April 2023, the Viking Saturn will spend its inaugural season sailing itineraries in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.
“It’s always a proud day when a new Viking ship touches the water for the first time and gets a little closer to joining its sister ships in our fleet,” said Torstein Hagen, President of Viking. “Together with Fincantieri, we have built the most elegant ocean-going vessels in the world, and we look forward to welcoming our first guests aboard the Viking Saturn when it is delivered next spring.”.
The traditional launching ceremony took place at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona and is significant because it signifies that a ship is entering its final construction phase. After a two-day process to launch the Viking Saturn, it will be moved to a nearby outfitting dock for final construction and interior fitting out.
Viking's ocean-going ships have a gross tonnage of 47,800 tons, with 465 cabins that can accommodate 930 guests. The Viking Saturn will join the fleet, which includes the Viking Star, Viking Sea, Viking Sky, Viking Orion, Viking Jupiter, Viking Venus, and Viking Mars. The Viking Neptune is scheduled for delivery in late 2022.
