On May 29th, two cruise ships arrived for the first time this season at the new Moll Balears dock in Port Tarragona. The first arrival was the Riviera, a luxury ship from Oceania Cruises with a capacity for approximately 1,260 passengers. The Riviera is on a 7-day itinerary from Tarragona to Monte Carlo, with stops in Valencia, Palma de Mallorca, Marseille, Antibes, Livorno, Sardinia, and finally, Monte Carlo.
The second ship to arrive at Port Tarragona was the Costa Luminosa, operated by Costa Cruises, which sailed from Marseille to Savona. The cruise itinerary is five days long, visiting various locations including Málaga, Savona, and Marseille, in addition to Tarragona.
Handling two cruise ships simultaneously has been easier since the opening of the Balearic Wharf. This new infrastructure, inaugurated in October 2021, was designed to improve the arrival and departure of passengers to Tarragona.
The 2022 cruise season began in April, specifically on the 15th, with the arrival of the Azamara Quest. Since then, in just over a month and a half, a total of 9 ships have docked at the Balearic Islands pier, carrying approximately 5,900 passengers who have visited Tarragona.
The Port of Tarragona has been working to present its new cruise project, in partnership with Global Ports Holding, at major international trade fairs, such as Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami. The Port also participated in the 60th MedCruise General Assembly, held in S'Agaró and organized by the ports of Roses and Palamós, where the Port team showcased the full potential of the city and the surrounding region.
