On May 28th, the Emerald Azzurra cruise ship was christened during a ceremony in Venice attended by Glen Moroney, Founder and Chairman of the Scenic Group, Karen Moroney, Director of Project Design, along with senior Emerald Cruises executives and local dignitaries. The godmother, Sarah Wikevand, joint managing director of Reader Offers Ltd (ROL), was unable to attend, and her colleague, Rosie Carns, also a managing director at ROL, represented her.

David Winterton, Marketing Director of Emerald Cruises, said that ROL Cruise is considered by Emerald Cruises to be one of the best superyacht cruise agents, which was fundamental to the successful launch of Emerald Azzura.
In his remarks during the ceremony, Moroney said, “The Scenic Group is uniquely positioned to own the entire end-to-end process in which we design, build, and operate our vessels. Special thanks are due to the project team, led by Ivo Skelin, for their commitment and dedication during the construction of the Emerald Azzurra.”.

The luxury yacht, which debuted on March 12 and can accommodate 100 passengers, will sail a series of itineraries in the Mediterranean and Adriatic before heading to the Arabian Peninsula in December 2022. The Emerald Azzurra will be joined by its sister ship, the Emerald Sakara, in 2023, with itineraries in the Middle East and the Mediterranean.
