After a seven-year hiatus, the La Goulette cruise port, operated by Global Ports Holding, welcomed three cruise ships in a single week. This is a testament to its ever-increasing traffic and the cruise industry's growing confidence in the destination.
The first ship, Holland America Line's Nieuw Statendam, docked with more than 1,300 passengers; the second, MSC Cruises' MSC Opera, arrived with more than 1,000 passengers; and the third, SAGA Cruises' Spirit of Adventure, will call on Saturday the 28th with more than 900 passengers.
All passengers enjoyed an authentic Tunisian experience at the La Goulette cruise port. As part of the experience, passengers had the opportunity to take photos with falcons and camels after being welcomed by a local band.
Representatives from the La Goulette Cruise Port boarded the ship for the ceremonial exchange of plaques with the captain.
The La Goulette cruise port is located a few kilometers from the city center and is the gateway to some of the most amazing places, such as Medina, Sidi Bou Said and Carthage, in addition to complying with all international standards of operation, health, safety and security.
Mr. Sami Debbiche, General Manager of the La Goulette Cruise Port, stated: “This is something new for the cruise sector in Tunisia: receiving three ships in one week is a pleasure. And we hope that many more ships will follow us during this cruise season.”
The La Goulette cruise port, operated through a joint venture between Global Ports Holding Plc and MSC Cruises SA, began operations in May 2019. The port has two terminals and berths that allow it to receive mega-ships such as the Oasis, Excellence, and Meraglivia-plus class cruise ships.
