The cruise ship “Hanseatic Nature,” belonging to the Hapag Lloyd company and handled by Marmedsa, docked at Pier 5 in Raos. The 138-meter-long vessel has 89 passengers from various parts of Europe and 157 crew members on board. The cruise ship entered the port at 8:00 a.m., arriving from the port of Gijón, and is scheduled to depart at 6:00 p.m. for the port of Bilbao. Some of the passengers will be able to take excursions around the city to see its main attractions, while others have chosen to visit other locations such as Santillana del Mar or the Altamira Museum.

On May 6th, the port will receive two cruise ships visiting Santander for the first time. The first, the “Le Dumont d'Urville,” belonging to the shipping company Le Compagnie du Ponant, will dock at noon, arriving from A Coruña, and will set sail for Bilbao at 1 p.m. The ship, handled by Marmedsa, is 131 meters long and will carry 70 passengers, mostly from North America and Europe, and 110 crew members.
The World Voyager cruise ship will arrive at the Maritime Station from A Coruña at 1 p.m. and will depart at 7 p.m. bound for Le Verdon. The ship, also handled by Marmedsa and measuring 126 meters in length, will carry 115 passengers and 157 crew members.
Santander Cruise Deluxe, the brand created by the Government of Cantabria, the City Council of Santander and the Port Authority to promote this traffic and consolidate Cantabria as a cruise destination, works to serve each port of call with all the services that both ships and crews may need in a clear example of institutional collaboration.
The cruise season in Cantabria is expected to take place between April and October, with twenty cruise ships visiting the area. The maximum capacity of these ships is 23,700 passengers, although this number could be reduced if restrictions on this type of traffic continue.
