The Port of Cagliari is delighted to welcome the Aidablu, a ship from the German company Aida Cruises, which inaugurated the 2022 cruise season in the port. The ship arrived at dawn with approximately 800 cruise passengers on board, mostly German, who enjoyed the day with bus excursions, walking tours, and bike rides, admiring the beauty of Cagliari, exploring the rich archaeological remains of Nora, and relaxing on the warm waters of Villasimius.
The Port of Cagliari, operated by Global Ports Holding and located in southern Sardinia, expects 120 cruise ship calls in the 2022 season, bringing approximately 200,000 cruise passengers to the city. Costa Cruises, with 33 calls and around 100,000 passengers served, will once again be the port's main client.
The season's novelty is represented by the 11 calls of the Valiant Lady, from the Virgin Cruises fleet. Virgin Cruises is the new luxury brand from the American market making its debut in the Mediterranean, the result of a significant marketing campaign launched in 2019 by Cagliari Cruise Port with the support of the Cagliari City Council. However, the interest of German cruise lines in the island's capital remains unchanged, with 24 calls scheduled from Aida, TUI, Marella, and Phoenix Reisen.
