The third episode of the five-part docuseries offers a behind-the-scenes look at how team members onboard and ashore are coming together to prepare for a pivotal moment in the company's 55-year history. The episode showcases how NCL has prepared for its grand return to the sea with contactless designed to enhance the guest experience and support rigorous health and safety protocols, as well as highlighting new product offerings and experiences. Viewers will also get a first look at the company's new cruise terminal at the Port of Miami, an iconic beacon on the Miami skyline.
This episode of “All Hands on Deck” also follows executives like Frank Del Rio, President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, and Harry Sommer, President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line, as they visit the Norwegian Gem and discuss the ship’s upcoming renovations. The Norwegian Gem will be the first ship to sail from NCL’s new terminal at Port Miami when it resumes operations on August 15, 2021.
“The past year has been an incredible journey, and we are more than ready to welcome our guests back in just a few weeks, with the Norwegian Jade being the first ship in the fleet to return to sea,” said Harry Sommer, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line. “Our return has been 500 days in the making, and we are now putting the finishing touches on everything to ensure we return in the best and safest way possible, providing a great experience for our guests.”
NCL will begin its voyages starting July 25, 2021, in Europe and August 7, 2021, in the U.S. The company’s ongoing efforts to return to sea through collaboration with local governments are guided by the robust protocols of the Sail Safe health and safety program, a cornerstone of which is that all crew and guests must be fully vaccinated to embark by October 31, 2021. In collaboration with leading experts from the Sail Safe Global Health and Wellness Council, the protocols will be regularly assessed and modified as needed, with science-based decisions being made to protect guests, crew, and the destinations visited.
