Swan Hellenic has announced that the Helsinki Shipyard has launched the SH Minerva from dry dock. Furthermore, steel production began a few days earlier for the third and largest vessel ordered from Helsinki, currently designated Vega 3. The Swan Hellenic fleet continues to operate as planned, catering to adventurers and discerning travelers with a wide range of distinctive cruise ships, some of which are already fully sold out.
The three ships are designed to have minimal environmental impact and comply with the latest emissions standards, as well as being equipped with batteries for future silent, emission-free navigation in ports, as well as in marine and wildlife reserves.
The SH Minerva features a 5-megawatt diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system with selective catalytic reduction and a PC5 ice-strengthened hull certified for safe return to port. Measuring 115 meters in length, this 10,500 GRT vessel has been specially designed for worldwide cruises, exploring the most inspiring and inaccessible places on the planet.
With elegant and spacious 5-star accommodations for 152 passengers in 76 large cabins and suites, the vast majority featuring spacious balconies, the SH Minerva will be operated by a crew of 120 onboard staff to provide the highest levels of personal service, boasting one of the highest gross tonnage ratios per passenger in its class. State-of-the-art hygiene technology will protect the health of everyone onboard to the highest standards and includes air conditioning with HEPA filters and UV sanitization systems.
Designed for immersive experiences, the SH Minerva features an expedition laboratory, a marine life library, and an observation room for lectures by expedition experts and specialists from a wide range of disciplines. Zodiac day trips are offered as part of the program, along with kayaking, hiking, and other activities. Onboard amenities include a fitness center, spa, sauna, panoramic restaurant, and a club lounge serving fine dining, as well as a pool deck with a bar.
The SH Minerva will be delivered to Swan Hellenic in October 2021, the SH Vega in the spring of 2022 and the third ship, temporarily named Vega 3, in the autumn of 2022.
