Denmark is reopening its borders to tourism, and there's finally good news regarding cruise tourism in the country. Danish authorities have decided that, starting June 26, vaccinated cruise ship passengers will be able to disembark in Denmark without further restrictions. The requirement set by Danish authorities is that all cruise passengers on board have been vaccinated with an EMA-approved vaccine.
The reopening means Copenhagen can now serve as a port of embarkation, while the country's 12 ports will be ready to receive transit calls from June 26. “We are eager to welcome cruise passengers back to Denmark. The wait has been incredibly long, and unfortunately, most of the 2021 cruise season has already passed. We had hoped that unvaccinated cruise guests would also be welcome in Denmark, as only one in four EU citizens has been vaccinated so far, but the authorities have opted for a very cautious restart. We hope it won't be long before we can welcome unvaccinated cruise guests to Denmark as well,” says Claus Bødker, director of CruiseCopenhagen.
Unfortunately, crew members are still unable to disembark unless they have also been vaccinated, although they will be able to embark and disembark in Denmark. Furthermore, they will be required to undergo testing before, during, and after the cruise.
In all Danish destinations, safety will remain a top priority, with a strict focus on ensuring social distancing and proper hand hygiene, while maintaining a good passenger experience.
