The Italian company will put a total of five ships into the Mediterranean this summer
The Costa Smeralda, the flagship of the Italian company, will arrive at the port of Barcelona on its first international cruise of 2021.
Following the publication in the Official State Gazette (BOE) of the approval for the resumption of international cruises in Spain, the Costa Smeralda, flagship of Costa Cruises and the first ship powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), will arrive at the Port of Barcelona on July 5th. It is the first ship of the Italian company to resume international operations in 2021, officially kicking off the summer season, during which a total of five Costa ships will sail the Mediterranean.
Since September 6th, Costa Cruises has been implementing its cutting-edge Costa Safety Protocol on board, which includes advanced measures compared to other tourism options, such as a mandatory and free antigen test just before the start of the holiday. In addition to all the social distancing measures on board, excursions are conducted in "bubble groups" and are therefore 100% controlled to prevent any interaction with the local population of the destinations visited. This protocol also allows guests to enjoy a top-tier dining and entertainment experience.
The Costa Smeralda, powered by Liquefied Natural Gas and at the forefront of sustainability, will make an itinerary every Monday from July 5th to rediscover the Mediterranean through three countries (Spain, Italy, France) and visiting the cities of Barcelona, Palma, Messina (Sicily), Rome, Savona, Marseille (France).
The Costa Luminosa, an incredible tribute to light, has been offering a fantastic itinerary through the Greek Islands since May 16th, departing from Trieste and visiting the cities of Bari, Corfu, Athens, Mykonos and Katakolon, with flights from Madrid and Barcelona.
The Costa Deliziosa, filled with works by young artists and great masters, will offer another tour of the Greek Islands from June 26, this time departing from Venice and visiting Mykonos, Katakolon, Corfu and Bari, with flights from Madrid and Barcelona.
The Costa Firenze, the newest ship in the fleet and a tribute to this city and the Renaissance, will make a 7-night tour from September 17th visiting Barcelona, Marseille, Savona, Rome and Naples.
Finally, the Costa Diadema, a modern and family-friendly ship, will begin a 14-night itinerary to Istanbul and Izmir from Barcelona starting on September 26, and from November 12, an itinerary from Barcelona passing through Barcelona, Savona, Marseille, Malaga, Cadiz, Lisbon, Gibraltar and Valencia.
