MSC Cruises obtains ISO22000 certification for food safety management on its ships

The company has announced its success in celebrating the World Health Organization's "World Food Safety Day 2021," following the awarding of the internationally acclaimed and recognized ISO 22000 food safety management system certification to 17 of its ships. Its two new ships for 2021, MSC Virtuosa and MSC Seashore, are on track to be certified in the coming months.

The onboard audits have been carried out by Bureau Veritas to verify that MSC Cruises adheres to the highest food safety standards for its passengers and crew.

Paolo Raia, Managing Director of the Food and Beverage Division at MSC Cruises, based in Genoa, Italy, said: “Food safety is an idea that is understandably taken for granted in everyday society, but on a cruise ship it must have a systematic, well-considered method and a planned approach to ensure the food safety of passengers and crew on board.

Bureau Veritas is a member of the London-based International Association of Classification Societies (IACS), a global non-profit organization that sets a range of standards for the maritime sector, including safety.
