MSC Seaside joined MSC Grandiosa at sea last Saturday, welcoming passengers aboard for weekly 7-night cruises in the Western Mediterranean, with new destinations in Syracuse, Sicily, and Taranto, Puglia, Italy. The ship, now three days into its voyage, departed from Genoa, Italy, on May 1, after which passengers enjoyed a day at sea and a visit to Valletta, Malta. As part of its itinerary, the ship will also call at Civitavecchia (Rome's port).
MSC Seaside thus becomes the second ship to sail this summer season of 2021, with other new ships joining the fleet, such as its sister ship and future flagship, MSC Seashore, which will join the others in August. All ships implement the company's rigorous health and hygiene protocol, which was developed in conjunction with the Blue Ribbon panel.
The Sicilian port of Syracuse makes its MSC Cruises debut, offering a selection of protected shore excursions so passengers can discover historical and archaeological sites in the area, including the Greek theater of Syracuse, the largest ever built in Sicily and one of the largest in the Greek world. They can also immerse themselves in the beautiful countryside and Baroque towns where the world-famous Inspector Montalbano films were shot.
The southern city of Taranto in Puglia will offer something truly special for those seeking a relaxing day while making the most of this historic region. Among its wonders are Taranto's charming Old Town, with its winding alleyways and numerous churches and palaces, and the National Archaeological Museum of Taranto (MArTA), showcasing the history of southern Italy and the roots of its culture. In addition to a wide range of protected excursions, MSC Cruises will introduce a special private beach experience in Taranto starting in June, exclusively for MSC Seaside passengers. A day at the beach is an essential part of any summer holiday, and now guests can also unwind on the sandy shore by the crystal-clear waters of the Ionian Sea.
In addition, MSC Cruises will offer an onboard PCR testing service to facilitate the return to Spain of domestic travelers.
