Costa Cruises restarts its operations with the Costa Smeralda on March 27

Costa Cruises, the Italian company of Carnival Corporation, is ready to set sail again and offer guests a vacation full of leisure and relaxation, along with improved health and safety protocols.

Costa Cruises restarts its operations with the Costa Smeralda on March 27

The resumption begins with the departure of the flagship Costa Smeralda, scheduled for March 27 with an unchanged itinerary, taking guests to beautiful locations in Italy, with 3 and 4 day mini-cruises or, alternatively, a 7 day cruise, with stops in Savona, La Spezia, Civitavecchia, Naples, Messina and Cagliari.

From May 1st, the Costa Smeralda will resume week-long cruises in the Western Mediterranean, with visits to Italy (Savona, Civitavecchia and Palermo), France (Marseille) and possibly Spain (Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca).

A second ship, the Costa Luminosa, will also return to service, departing from Trieste from May 2nd, and the following day from Bari, confirming its week-long cruise program around Greece and Croatia.

Costa is working closely with national and local authorities in the countries included in its ships' itineraries outside of Italy to define and agree on the details of resuming cruise operations, with enhanced health and safety measures thanks to the application of the Costa Safety Protocol.

The Protocol contains operational measures related to all aspects of the cruise experience, both onboard and ashore, which have been successfully implemented in Italy since September 6. These measures include capacity limitations, antigen testing for all guests and crew, temperature checks upon disembarkation and re-embarkation, protected shore excursions, physical distancing onboard and in cruise terminals, new ways of using onboard services, enhanced health and medical services, and the use of face masks where required.

All other cruises scheduled through the end of May, and not included in today's updated program, will be canceled. Costa is informing travel agencies and affected customers of the changes.
