Silversea presents its 2023 World Cruise “South Side Story” through a cinematic production

Silversea Cruises hosted an exclusive virtual premiere to unveil its new 2023 World Cruise, titled 'South Side Story – All the World's A Stage'. The innovative premiere included a pre-produced show hosted by Fernando Barroso de Oliveira, Silversea Chairman's Ambassador to the Venetian Society, and a Q&A session with Roberto Martinoli, President and CEO, and Barbara Muckermann, Chief Marketing Officer. The event replaced the usual onboard presentation and marked the opening of an exclusive pre-sale for World Cruise guests.

“We are constantly seeking innovative ways to nurture our relationships with our guests as we await the moment when we can reunite on board our ships,” says Roberto Martinoli. “Just as on board our ships, we are committed to delivering special moments that exceed our passengers’ expectations, and our debut of our 2023 World Cruise embodies this commitment. I am delighted to be able to share our pioneering new product with our valued customers in such an inspiring way, and I hope it will help convey the incredible range of experiences that await us.”

Replicating the production of a feature film, the shoot lasted five weeks and took place over a full week. It included 18 different sets and more than eight hours of footage to create a 27-minute narrative designed to transport guests to the featured destinations.

Under the title “South Side Story,” Silversea’s 2023 World Cruise will draw inspiration from the most captivating cultures of the Southern Hemisphere: its arts, its people, and the experiences that connect with each destination,” says José Vuolo, Silversea’s Global Creative Director. “What we have created is an unprecedented theatrical performance, combining a cinematic style reminiscent of the 1950s and 60s with today’s most advanced film technology: the virtual set. Staging such a long journey while simultaneously conveying a tranquil, luxurious, and relaxed experience was the real challenge.”.

“While we await the moment when we can reunite at sea, I am delighted to have participated in this innovative project to launch an exclusive pre-sale for our pioneering 2023 World Cruise, 'South Side Story'. With the breathtaking landscapes of the Southern Hemisphere, our passengers will enjoy new and immersive experiences while meeting like-minded travelers aboard our newly refurbished Silver Shadow,” said Fernando Barroso de Oliveira.

Silversea’s newly announced 2023 World Cruise, ‘South Side Story’, will depart Sydney on January 9, 2023, and arrive in Fort Lauderdale on May 28. Over 139 nights, the Silver Shadow will traverse five continents, offering guests immersive experiences in 66 destinations across 34 countries. A total of 40 destinations have not been visited on Silversea’s recent World Cruise itineraries. Passengers will enjoy 20 overnight stops in 17 cities, as well as 10 tailor-made events, five of which will be exclusive to World Cruise guests.

For the first time in Silversea's history, the 2023 World Cruise will feature door-to-door service, transporting passengers to Sydney in ultimate comfort. Guests will travel from their homes to the departure airport in private executive transfers and benefit from private assistance with access to designated airline lounges. They will then enjoy a superior flight experience from select US and UK airports to Sydney, Australia, experiencing a new level of comfort in Qantas Business Class. Upon arrival in Sydney, travelers will enjoy VIP assistance, private transfers, and priority boarding. Butlers aboard Silver Shadow will be available to assist guests with unpacking, should they wish.

Highlights of the 2023 World Cruise include:

– In-depth exploration of the natural history of Tasmania and New Zealand;
– Deep discovery of the less-traveled coasts of Melanesia, including Papua New Guinea for the first time on a Silversea World Cruise;
