Due to the extension of movement restrictions within Italy – as established by the latest Italian government decree prohibiting access to and use of embarkation ports until January 15 – MSC Cruises announced today that it is forced to cancel the MSC Grandiosa cruises departing from Genoa, Italy, on January 10 and, as a precautionary measure, also cancel the January 17 departure. As a result, the first MSC Grandiosa cruise, following the temporary suspension of operations related to the implementation of these same measures during the Christmas and New Year holidays, will now depart from Genoa on Sunday, January 24.
The company's flagship will resume weekly sailings, departing Genoa every Sunday and calling at Civitavecchia, Naples, Palermo, and Valletta, with embarkation available at all Italian ports. MSC Grandiosa will operate this itinerary until March 21, when it will begin its summer Mediterranean cruise.
From February 14, MSC Magnifica will also begin operations departing from Genoa and offering 11-night cruises, designed for passengers to discover Mediterranean destinations in Italy, Greece, and Malta.
MSC Cruises is in the process of contacting all travel agents and passengers affected by these two MSC Grandiosa cancellations.
