As Carnival Cruise Line continues to implement its plan to comply with the requirements of the Resumption of Cruise Ship Operations issued on October 30 by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the company notified passengers and travel agents of the cancellation of its cruise departures for the first months of 2021, including:
– All departures from U.S. ports from January 1 to 31.
– Departures from Baltimore, Charleston, Jacksonville, Long Beach, Mobile, New Orleans, and San Diego through February 28.
– Departures of the Carnival Legend from Tampa through March 26.
The company is working on a phased and gradual resumption of operations, initially focusing on Miami and Port Canaveral, followed by Galveston. In accordance with CDC protocols, the Carnival Horizon will arrive in Miami this week, and the Carnival Breeze will be the next ship to return to the U.S. In total, 16 Carnival ships will resume service in the U.S. in 2021, in compliance with CDC requirements, including the Carnival Conquest, Carnival Dream, Carnival Ecstasy, Carnival Elation, Carnival Freedom, Carnival Glory, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Panorama, Carnival Pride, Carnival Sensation, Carnival Sunrise, Carnival Sunshine, and Carnival Vista. The Mardi Gras, currently under construction in Finland, will also enter service in 2021.
With this announcement, Carnival Cruise Line's operations in the U.S. are suspended until January 31, 2021. In addition, Carnival had previously canceled other itineraries on four ships (the Carnival Magic, Carnival Paradise, Carnival Valor, and Carnival Victory/Radiance) that are scheduled for maintenance and refurbishment work in the first half of 2021, with plans to resume service as soon as these upgrades are complete. Carnival had previously canceled operations in Australia until March 2, 2021.
