Silversea receives the new ship Silver Moon

During an intimate celebration held at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, executives from Silversea Cruises, Royal Caribbean Group, and Fincantieri expressed their gratitude to everyone involved. In live video speeches, Richard D. Fain, Chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, and Jason Liberty, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Royal Caribbean Group, praised the more than 1,000 artisans who contributed to the ship's construction. Also present in Ancona were Luigi Matarazzo, Managing Director of Fincantieri's Merchant Vessels Division, and Roberto Martinoli, Chairman and CEO of Silversea, who addressed the attendees before Martinoli signed the official handover document.

Giovanni Stecconi, the director of the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, then presented Alessandro Zanello, the captain of Silver Moon, who also commanded the delivery of Silver Moon's sister ship, Silver Muse, in 2017, with a commemorative ampoule containing seawater from the launch. Following the delivery of Silver Moon, attendees raised a glass of champagne, respecting social distancing protocols, to welcome the ship to the Silversea fleet.

“I congratulate everyone involved in the construction of Silver Moon; this is a proud moment for everyone at Silversea Cruises, Royal Caribbean Group, and Fincantieri,” said Richard D. Fain, Chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group. “This beautiful ship represents the resilience of the global cruise industry, and it is heartening to see such innovation and progress during this challenging time. I have long maintained that Silversea Cruises is the crown jewel of Royal Caribbean Group, and I continue to affirm the quality of this cruise line. Silver Moon represents the pinnacle of luxury travel. I look forward to welcoming our guests aboard in the near future.”.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Silver Moon to the Silversea fleet. The epitome of 21st-century luxury travel, Silver Moon boasts a host of innovations that build upon the success of its sister ship, Silver Muse, such as our groundbreaking new culinary program, SALT, and we can’t wait for our guests to experience it,” says Martinoli. “Every exquisite detail of Silver Moon is an expression of our successful collaboration with one of the world’s leading shipbuilders. It was a wise decision to build Silver Moon here in Italy, the cradle of luxury and a country renowned for its rich culinary tradition. I thank the Fincantieri team and the more than 1,000 talented artisans who, overcoming the difficult challenges of 2020, made this delivery possible. I also thank Royal Caribbean Group for their invaluable support; Silver Moon is a testament to the success of our partnership.”.

“The Silver Moon is the third of Silversea’s ultra-luxury cruise ships, the result of our long-standing and successful partnership. At Fincantieri, we pride ourselves on delivering a ship that embodies the highest standards of style, comfort, and luxury,” said Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri. “We are honored to have partnered with Silversea on the launch of their highly successful Muse-class ships, and we are confident that the Silver Moon will further strengthen the company’s legacy of pushing the boundaries of luxury cruise travel.”.

The innovative new culinary enrichment program SALT, short for Sea and Land Taste, will debut aboard Silver Moon, allowing guests to travel more deeply through a variety of destination-focused dining experiences, both onboard and ashore. The SALT program will feature three new immersive culinary experiences for Silver Moon guests, forming a culinary discovery hub on Deck 4:

  • Among the largest of our eight restaurants aboard Silver Moon, SALT Kitchen is the first large-scale regional restaurant aboard a luxury cruise ship, offering a menu that changes with the destination and a regionally inspired wine list;
  • The second proposal is the SALT Lab, a kitchen based on experiments that allows guests to learn about local ingredients and artisanal techniques through interesting workshops, tastings and demonstrations;
  • And finally, the SALT Bar, which will offer guests the opportunity to taste the most authentic flavors of the destination, through a large selection of regional wines, spirits and other beverages.

With a gross tonnage of 40,700 and a maximum capacity of just 596 guests, the Silver Moon has been influenced by the successful design of its sister ship, the Silver Muse, and maintains the intimacy of a small ship and the spacious suites that are the hallmark of the Silversea experience. At the same time, a number of public spaces have been created for guests to enjoy, such as:

  • Silversea's signature restaurant, La Dame, serving exquisite French cuisine in an elegant setting, has been redesigned and expanded to accommodate 56 guests and offers al fresco dining. Custom-designed Lalique glass panels have been incorporated to enhance the restaurant's aesthetic.
  • The Atlantide restaurant, a favorite among our guests, has been expanded and improved to accommodate up to 220 people.
  • Minimalist yet sophisticated, Kaiseki's design draws inspiration from the world's finest sushi restaurants. Here, guests will witness expert sushi chefs at work, preparing fresh sushi, sashimi, and other Asian-inspired dishes that reflect the seasons.
  • The popular Dolce Vita lounge has a new design with the bar repositioned in the center of the room. Dolce Vita will welcome guests as a sophisticated bar during the day and as a charming piano bar in the evening.
  • The Connoisseur's Corner now features a new Wintergarden area, creating a sheltered and inviting outdoor setting. At the Connoisseur's Corner, guests can enjoy a selection of premium cigars and spirits in a sophisticated atmosphere.

Enhanced with elegant décor, premium materials, and luxurious amenities, Silver Moon's 298 spacious suites offer one of the highest room-to-guest ratios of any luxury cruise ship, providing guests with the superlative comfort that is a hallmark of the Silversea experience. And, with Savoir's custom-made luxury beds adorning the ship's top 10 suites—four Owner's Suites, four Grand Suites, and two Royal Suites—guests will experience a distinctive level of comfort even while they sleep. Guests in each suite will enjoy dedicated butler service, an in-suite minibar stocked with guest-selected beverages, a 24-hour in-suite dining area, and other luxurious amenities.
