Following the initial detection of 12 suspected positive cases on board the Mein Schiff 6, the company activated its COVID-19 response plan in close collaboration with the Greek authorities, and after carrying out the relevant PCR and antigen tests on the crew members, with negative results in all of them, they confirmed that there is no coronavirus on board the Mein Schiff 6, which continues with its planned itinerary.
TUI Cruises can confirm that its health and safety protocols are working and that cruises are possible during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since resuming service on July 24, 2020, in Germany, the company confirms that there has not been a single positive case of SARS-CoV-2 among passengers or crew on any of its active ships.
TUI Cruises has implemented strict measures in its health and safety protocols for risk mitigation, including health questionnaires, pre-cruise PCR tests, daily temperature checks, social distancing, and a maximum occupancy of 60%, with only balcony cabins and suites occupied, among others.
The Mein Schiff 6 returned to service in Heraklion, Greece, with cruises to Piraeus and Corfu on September 13, 2020. “The safety of our guests, crew, and the Greek population is TUI Cruises’ top priority.
