Last Friday, the Wonder of the Seas was launched at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The fifth Oasis-class ship from Royal Caribbean International, which will be the world's largest when it enters service, has entered a new phase of construction in the floating dock, where the interior finishing touches will be completed.
The maneuver was carried out by tugboats, as the engines are not yet operational. Once all systems are operational and the ship is nearing completion, sea trials will take place, where it will be tested in all types of maneuvers for several days before its delivery to the North American shipping company.
The Wonder of the Seas will have a capacity for about 5,450 passengers and was scheduled to operate in China next year, but the impact of the coronavirus has caused the shipping company to delay these plans until 2022.
