The Port of Huelva is the first port in Spain to receive a cruise ship since the pandemic. It is the 'La Belle de Cadix' cruise ship, from the Croisi Europe company, which docked for the first time yesterday at the Levante Wharf at around 9:00 a.m.
The president of the Port Authority of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, presented the commemorative plaque to the Captain, marking the ship's maiden call, and emphasized the importance of Huelva being the first Spanish port to resume cruise activity. In this regard, she expressed her gratitude to the shipping company Croisi Europe "for bringing the cruise ship La Belle de Cadix to Huelva, and congratulated them on their courage and effort in reactivating the sector and, consequently, the economy." "Only through synergy between government bodies and economic stakeholders will we be able to overcome this crisis," she stressed.
Miranda emphasized that "these types of dockings are part of our strategy to boost the economic development of Huelva, through the arrival of tourists via small cruise ships and megayachts, integrated with our future plan for the reorganization of this space, aimed at bringing the Port-City closer together.".
The cruise passengers, mostly French, went directly to the center of Huelva during their visit to the city, with planned excursions to the Columbian sites and the city itself.
The arrival of cruise ships is coordinated by the Huelva Cruise Network working group, which is made up of members of the Port Authority of Huelva, the Huelva City Council, the Huelva Chamber of Commerce, the Huelva Federation of Businessmen, HuelvaPort, the Andalusian Regional Government, the Huelva Tourism Board and representatives of shipping and tourism companies, among others.
