Benny Weidacher has been appointed vice president of operations at TUI Cruises, replacing Ferdinand Strohmeier, who is leaving the cruise company to start as CEO at Portuguese expedition cruise operator Mystic Cruises.
Weidacher previously served as Vice President of Operations at Pullmantur Cruises and joined TUI Cruises on July 1. A native of Austria, he has over 20 years of experience in the cruise industry, holding executive positions both onshore and onboard, including at Royal Caribbean Cruises.
Wybcke Meier, CEO, commented: “With Benny Weidacher, we are acquiring an experienced vice president of operations; we wish him a successful start.”.
Strohmeier joined TUI Cruises as Managing Director aboard the Mein Schiff 1 in March 2011. “We are very sorry to see Ferdinand Strohmeier leave and thank him for his years of dedication to the company. We wish him every success in his new role as CEO of Mystic Cruises in Portugal,” Meier added.
