Carnival UK today announced the appointment of Simon Palethorpe as president of Carnival UK, expanding his current role as president of Cunard.
This appointment coincides with today's announcement that current Carnival UK president Josh Weinstein has been appointed chief operating officer of Carnival Corporation, effective immediately. Simon Palethorpe's duties as president will begin on July 1, reporting to Weinstein.
“Following a track record of success at Cunard, one of the most iconic brands not only in cruising but also in the maritime industry,” said Weinstein, “I expect Simon to build on his successes by leading all of Carnival UK, supporting both P&O Cruises, the quintessential British brand, and Cunard, whose luxury ships set the standard for sophisticated travel.”.
Palethorpe, who joined Cunard in 2016, has overseen several launches and campaigns for the brand, including Cunard's investment in the refurbishment of the Queen Mary 2.
Before joining Cunard, Palethorpe held senior positions at Terra Firma Capital Partners, PepsiCo, Avis Europe Plc. and John Lewis.
