The Carnival Breeze cruise ship, belonging to Carnival Cruise Line, has received special permission from the Spanish government to dock tomorrow, Thursday, May 21, in the Port of Cádiz for the sole purpose of repatriating the crew members of the Carnival Victory, who have been confined to that ship since the state of emergency was declared on March 15. Six crew members from the Carnival Breeze , who have also been confined to their ship for two months, will also disembark
As is known, since March 13, the restriction on the entry of cruise ships into the entire national territory has been maintained as a measure to contain the spread of COVID-19, although in some exceptional cases this prohibition has been lifted guaranteeing compliance with the safety and health measures.
The operation, authorized by the Port Health Authority and other relevant authorities, will transfer the 400 crew members in eight buses from the Carnival Victory, currently docked at the Navantia shipyard in Puerto Real, to the Carnival Breeze, which will dock in the commercial port of Cádiz. Each bus will carry a maximum of 25 people, in compliance with the safety measures imposed by the state of emergency.
Once the vehicles arrive at the Port of Cadiz, they will go directly to the restricted area of the dock, where the crew members will get off the bus and go directly on board the ship.
Throughout the operation, a Port Police officer will remain in the area to coordinate bus traffic, its entry and exit from the restricted zone.
The operation will take place early in the morning and once it is completed, the ship is scheduled to set sail.
The ship is consigned to the shipyard project by Marítima Dávila and for the crew disembarkation operation it has the support of BC Shipping Agency.
