CroisiEurope, Europe's largest river cruise company, is providing an efficient solution for active healthcare workers in Bordeaux hospitals by offering them free accommodation aboard its river cruise ship, the MS Cyrano de Bergerac. This initiative was undertaken in collaboration with Cruise Bordeaux, the Port of Bordeaux, the City of Bordeaux, and the local Regional Health Agency to support efforts in the fight against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The CroisiEurope Cyrano de Bergerac has been in Bordeaux since April 10th and, since the 17th of this month, has been available as free accommodation for healthcare workers. The company is also providing this service on its ship MS Botticelli, docked on the Seine, which has been housing active nursing staff from Paris hospitals since April 2nd.
Moored on the banks of the Garonne, in the center of Bordeaux, the MS Cyrano de Bergerac is a riverboat built in 2013, with a length of 110 meters and a beam of 11.40 meters, a river cruise ship that usually makes itineraries in the Gironde estuary, the Garonne and Dordogne rivers between the months of March and November.
This ship features 87 comfortable cabins with a capacity for 174 passengers, all equipped with television, private bathroom with shower and toilet, and air conditioning, currently serving these exceptional passengers. Due to current social distancing regulations and to ensure the safety and well-being of healthcare workers, the company has reduced passenger capacity to just 25 guests at a time.
Due to its central location in Bordeaux, the MS Cyrano de Bergerac is easily accessible by tram or private vehicle, and free parking is available nearby for healthcare workers. They can board at any time of day or night, and breakfast is provided.
