Cunard and P&O Cruises extend suspension of operations until May

Cunard and P&O Cruises have extended the suspension of all their operations due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Both Carnival-owned lines will not sail again until at least May 15.

Cunard has stated that it will continue to analyze government guidelines and travel restrictions at ports of call around the world, and this may mean further changes to the timing of its return to service.

Simon Palethorpe, President of Cunard: “The impact of Covid-19 has drastically altered personal and business routines, imposing significant travel restrictions around the world.

“Everyone on the Cunard team is aware of the need to support the management and containment of Covid-19 globally.”

“This includes protecting the health and safety of our guests and crew. Therefore, it is right to extend the pause in operations.”.

Guests of Cunard and P&O Cruises scheduled to sail between April 11 and May 15 will automatically receive a 125% future cruise credit.

Carnival UK President Paul Ludlow added: “It’s clear that our original April 11 date for resuming voyages, which would have been a 30-day pause in operations, is simply not feasible. Given current guidelines, it is prudent and practical to extend the pause until normal operations can resume.”
