SeaDream Yacht Club announced that by mutual agreement with Damen Group they have decided not to build their new ship, Seadream Innovation, which was scheduled to be launched in September 2021.
Andreas Brynestad, Executive Vice President of SeaDream, expressed his satisfaction with the response from his customers and the market to the announcement of the new ship, but nevertheless, customers with reservations will be contacted to receive a refund in the coming days.
Despite the project's cancellation, SeaDream says it is still "looking for other opportunities to build a new ship," as the company's owner stated they have been debt-free for years and have the funds to expand their fleet. "We hope to announce a new ship in 2020," said Atle Brynestad.
Last March, SeaDream announced the construction of a 15,600-ton megayacht for 220 passengers with Polar 6 level, which would be built in the Damen shipyards in Romania, starting last October, plans that are now thwarted.
The SeaDream I and SeaDream II continue to operate with record profits, and there are plans to renovate the suites on the SeaDream II next spring.
