AmaWaterways celebrated the christening of its newest 156-passenger ship, the AmaMora. Co-founders Rudi Schreiner and Kristin Karst joined Mayor Adalbert Dornbusch of Lahnstein, Germany, and godmother Libbie Rice, president of Ensemble Travel Group, at a welcoming ceremony for the company's third ship of the 2019 season.
The AmaMora will sail along the enchanting Rhine River, while the recently launched AmaMagna and AmaDouro expand the company's presence on the Danube and in Portugal, respectively.
“This has truly been a record-breaking year for us, and we are very proud to welcome AmaMora to our wonderful fleet dedicated to meeting the needs of travelers who crave a luxurious and personalized vacation experience,” said Schreiner. “With multiple restaurants, a well-equipped fitness center with a Wellness Host, and a heated pool with a swim-up bar, AmaMora’s design resembles its sister ships AmaLea and AmaKristina, but its color scheme makes it unique.”.
Lahnstein welcomed guests, media representatives, and travel agents who joined local dignitaries and residents for a special ceremony themed around the “Romanticism of the Rhine.” Set against the spectacular backdrop of Stolzenfels Castle, local artists offered guests a glimpse into Lahnstein’s rich heritage through a traditional male choir performing sea shanties and local dances.
“AmaWaterways owes much of its success to the support and loyalty of travel agencies, and we are delighted to honor that partnership by having Libbie as godmother of our newest ship,” said Karst. “Through her years of experience in the travel industry, she has earned a stellar reputation and is a role model for other young women. We are thrilled to honor her and our invaluable relationship with Ensemble Travel Group by having her serve as godmother to the beautiful AmaMora.”.
After the speeches, the signing of the guest book and a blessing of the ship, godmother Rice officially presented the AmaMora with the traditional tossing of a bottle of champagne onto the ship's hull.
“I’m thrilled to christen the AmaMora today. ‘Ama’ means love, and I can feel the love that has gone into this ship, from its stunning design and craftsmanship to its warm and attentive service, and of course, the meticulously planned itineraries it will sail in Europe,” Rice commented.
The AmaMora will sail seven-night Rhine itineraries between Amsterdam and Basel. Passengers will enjoy the ship's large lounge windows and spacious Sun Deck, all thoughtfully designed to provide breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. A highlight of the Rhine cruises is the scenic 40-mile journey through the fascinating Rhine Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its steep valleys covered in terraced vineyards and over 40 hilltop castles, some dating back to Roman times. Specific itineraries include the Enchanting Rhine, the Captivating Rhine, and the Christmas Markets on the Rhine.
AmaWaterways cruises include full board, plus wine, beer and soft drinks with meals, a selection of excursions and unlimited wifi.
