Southampton, January 31, 2019: Oceania Cruises, the world’s leading cruise line for dining and destinations, today announced a groundbreaking sustainability initiative to eliminate millions of plastic water bottles each year through a new partnership with Vero Water. This pioneering sustainability initiative is one of the latest enhancements to the brand’s OceaniaNEXT program and is part of the company’s “Sail & Sustain” program.

“By introducing the Vero Water eco-friendly bottling system to the Oceania Cruises experience, we are not only taking a significant step forward environmentally, but we are also providing our guests with the best choice of still and sparkling water on the market,” said Bob Binder, President and CEO of Oceania Cruises. As part of its OceaniaNEXT initiative, the line’s ships will be equipped with Vero Water’s acclaimed still and sparkling water purification systems starting in April. The installation of the Vero Water systems will eliminate approximately three million plastic bottles each year.
Vero Water is the world's leading provider of superior quality purified water systems and is used worldwide by leading luxury hotel brands such as Ritz Carlton, JW Marriott, Kimpton, MGM Hotels & Resorts, Hyatt, Fisher Island Club, Sea Island and top James Beard Foundation award-winning restaurants such as Saba New Orleans, Eleven Madison Park, Meadowood Napa Valley, Farmhouse Inn, Saison, Tribeca Grill, Blue Hill, among many others.
As a testament to its unwavering commitment to the environment, Vero Water uses dishwasher-safe glass bottles that can be reused, eliminating up to three million plastic bottles each year. Vero Water's patented purification system, which utilizes nanofiltration and five separate layers of filters, delivers fresh, pure, great-tasting water.
Vero Water on board and on land
The Vero Water service will be rolled out in two phases this year. The first phase will focus on implementing the onboard water service in suites, cabins, restaurants, lounges, and bars, beginning in April and expected to be completed by mid-June. The second phase will focus on the Vero Water service for guests on land. All guests will receive their own reusable Vero Water bottle, which they can also take with them after their trip. This phase is expected to begin in the second half of 2019.
