Madrid, November 28, 2018 – MSC Cruises, the world’s largest privately owned cruise line and industry leader in Europe, South America and the United Arab Emirates, raises anchor so that cruise lovers can begin, in some way, to enjoy the long-awaited ship, MSC Virtuosa.

MSC Virtuosa will be the fourth ship in the Meraviglia class and the second Meraviglia-plus ship with more cabins and public areas in the company's fleet. The first ship of this class, MSC Meraviglia, was launched in 2017. The name of the new ship, MSC Virtuosa, pays tribute to the skill and expertise of all the architects involved in its construction, as well as the employees at Les Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyards, who dedicate their time and professionalism to designing and building this innovative class of ships.
Its launch is planned for 2020, but MSC Cruises has already begun sales for MSC Virtuosa, whose inaugural season will be in the Western Mediterranean. Starting November 8, 2020, it will depart from Genoa for 7-night cruises and will stop in Barcelona, which will also serve as an embarkation port, every week.
The ships in this innovative class include a large number of onboard features, and MSC Virtuosa is the perfect example of this, offering its passengers a wide range of entertainment, dining, relaxation, shopping and much more, in addition to the "ship within a ship" concept that MSC Yacht Club provides to customers seeking exclusivity and luxury in a world of possibilities.
Some of the most attractive features that MSC Virtuosa passengers will be able to enjoy are:
- Two new Cirque du Soleil at Sea shows, created exclusively for MSC Cruises passengers by Cirque du Soleil, the world's leading entertainment company. With performances six nights a week in the Carousel Lounge, a theater built specifically for these shows, passengers can enjoy a unique experience at sea.
- In addition to the already acclaimed MSC for Me digital innovation program , all cabins will feature the latest and most innovative technology in the industry: Zoe , an AI-powered personal assistant designed by MSC Cruises in collaboration with HARMAN International. Zoe will be available in seven languages, offering passengers a simple and intuitive way to access information about all the ship's features from the comfort of their cabin.
- An unprecedented selection of dining options, from casual to fine dining, with restaurants featuring fresh, quality food to suit all tastes, as well as a huge variety of bars for every occasion.
- The iconic Mediterranean-stylePromenade will be expanded with a larger shopping area and a new restaurant concept exclusively for Aurea Experience guests. In addition, the new bar and lounge, L'Atelier Bistrot, will offer a space to relax and enjoy the stage show or take to the dance floor on the central promenade.
- A wide range of family-friendly facilities and entertainment options make this ship the ideal place for holidays with children, thanks to programs and facilities designed in collaboration with our partners LEGO® and Chicco.
In addition to all this, MSC Virtuosa will feature state-of-the-art technology to reduce its environmental impact, such as an exhaust gas cleaning system for cleaner emissions, an advanced wastewater treatment system, intelligent heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to recover heat from the engine rooms, LED lighting, and smart devices to achieve significant energy savings. All of this is part of MSC Cruises' commitment to offering passengers the best vacation experiences at sea in a sustainable way.
Initially, sales are open exclusively to MSC Voyagers Club members, one of the many benefits of this program that rewards the loyalty of MSC Cruises passengers. Sales for all other passengers will begin on December 3.
All bookings for MSC Virtuosa made during the first two weeks, a period available exclusively to MSC Voyagers Club members, will receive a special 5% discount in addition to their usual 5% loyalty discount, and will also be the first to choose their cabin. All other passengers will also enjoy a 5% early booking discount until June 3, 2019.
