The PV300 project has been under construction at the Lotus Shipyard in Astrakhan since August 2016, when the keel was laid. It is a mixed ocean-river cruise ship with a capacity for 300 passengers and five-star hotel-quality accommodations across its four decks.
The ship is designed for long-distance river cruises from Moscow to Astrakhan, Moscow to St. Petersburg via Lakes Ladoga and Onega, and Moscow to Rostov-on-Don along the Volga-Don shipping canals. The ship is capable of navigating both river and sea.
The president of United Shipbuilding Corporation stated that the ship will be ready for sea trials in 2019: “We are finalizing the hull of the PV300 project, and we have begun loading heavy equipment, so we expect trials to begin in 2019. From that point on, we expect no delays.” However, he declined to specify a delivery date to the shipowner.
This type of ship had not been built in Russia for more than 60 years.
